Always a star-studded event, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic was attended by celebrities and friends of the brand including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael B. Jordan, Julianne Moore, Emily Ratajkowski, Joan Smalls, Andrew Rannells, Coco Rocha, Antoni Porowski, Grace Bol, Nicky Hilton, Gayle King, Jessica Williams, Mia Moretti, Ebonee Davis, Daniela Lopez, Kate Bock, Pritika Swarup, Garrett Neff, Sean O’Pry, Hunter McGrady, Ryan Jamaal Swain with music by DJ duo Amrit and Isaac Likes.
Veuve Clicquot once again proudly supported the Friends of Liberty State Park, an organization dedicated to keeping Liberty State Park a free, green, and non-commercial urban waterfront oasis, and the official beneficiary of the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. The park is only a stone’s throw from the Statue of Liberty with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.
Known for his role on the FX television series, Pose, Ryan Jamaal Swain kicked off the day with his rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” The ceremonial ball toss thrown in by Julianne Moore against the stunning cityscape backdrop was a great start to the match, while Coco Rocha, Gayle King, Erica Rutherford and more stomped divots in style during half-time, and Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael B. Jordan and Emily Ratajkowski caught up over glasses of Veuve Clicquot.
Spectators enjoyed a fast-paced match watching Team Veuve Clicquot, captained by Nacho Figueras, take on Team Liberty Comets. Nacho played alongside wife Delfina Blaquier in the match, while Clara Casino was deemed Most Valuable Player, bringing Team Veuve Clicquot a victorious 11-10 win. This year’s game was equally matched with four female and four male polo players taking the field.
For the third year in a row, Hublot served as the official timekeeper and scoreboard sponsor of the polo match, and created twelve limited-edition timepieces called the Classic Fusion Chronograph Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2019. The third edition of the watch is available with straps in Veuve Clicquot Yellow alligator and black leather, and retails for $14,000 at the Hublot Fifth Avenue Boutique.
The festivities continued in the Rosé Garden, an elevated consumer experience at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, where guests enjoyed glasses of Veuve Clicquot Rosé, gourmet lunches, and premium views of the match from an exclusive and beautiful garden lounge setting.
As a complement to Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Rosé, Rich and Rich Rosé, guests enjoyed gourmet summer fare from some of the best food trucks in the city, including Cousins Maine Lobster, Zoelily Empanadas, Softee Xpress, Carlitos Trailer, El Toro Rojo, The Crepes Truck, Angry Archies, Gorilla Cheese, Chick Wings and Things, Toum, and Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Known as one of the most glamourous and stylish daytime events of the season, celebrities and guests stepped out to enjoy the beautiful day in some of summer’s hottest styles including straw hats, two-pieces sets for both men and women, Clicquot Yellow accessories, mini purses, 90s-inspired cat eye sunglasses and more. Guests also donned breezy dresses, colorful suits, chic shorts and iconic wide-brimmed summer hats that have long been associated with the sport and style of polo.
Off the field, Veuve Clicquot illuminated NYC with a third-annual lighting of the Empire State Building in iconic Veuve Clicquot Yellow color on May 31. Nacho Figueras and the Empire State Building team gathered at the world-famous building for an honorary lighting ceremony, where Nacho flipped the official switch and gifted a signed polo ball to commemorate the event.
