More than a champagne, La Grande Dame is truly a gift in every sense of the word.

Veuve Clicquot presence in Grand Cru terroirs dates back to 1760. Madame Clicquot knew she needed the best grapes to produce the best champagne. Thanks to her extraordinary intuition, she identified a few parcels which turned out to be some of the best in the region. She then acquired prestigious parcels like Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy, now all classified as Grand Cru, and used in the blend of La Grande Dame. The very same ones that Madame Clicquot intuitively chose, recognising their innate ability to produce exceptional grapes. But it’s also a real gift. The kind that one brings to one’s hosts or serves to guests on special occasions in the certitude that it will have the desired effect. That the bottle’s yellow label inscribed with three words, ‘La Grande Dame’, will duly impress and that most importantly, the champagne that will flow from it will delight.

The result of hundreds of years of savoir-faire, La Grande Dame is undoubtedly the champagne of grand celebrations and as such, deserves to be celebrated in its own right. For this 2008 vintage, Veuve Clicquot has joined forces with illustrious French crystal-maker Bacarrat to create an exceptional piece in limited edition.

Inspired by the letters Madame Clicquot exchanged with her agents and clients around the world, La Grande Dame by Bacarrat takes the shape of a black crystal inkwell, containing six bottles of La Grande Dame champagne: 1989, 2004, 2008, Brut & Brut Rosé. When opened, the inkwell reveals a champagne bucket crafted from black and gold pewter. In its base, a set of four Bacarrat crystal glasses and a drawer transform themselves into a leather-trimmed serving platter.

Truly a unique gift, if ever there was one.
